St Adrews Country Club

St. Andrews in Boca Raton.  It’s not just a country club, it’s a community.

St Andrews Country Club in Boca Raton, Florida, is all about sophistication and stylish living. But even though it is designed as the ultimate golf and country club, it’s really all about friends and neighbors living and playing together in a family residential community.

In fact, St Andrews Country Club was ranked number 15 by the Platinum Clubs of America, but it is also recognized on an international level for the variety and opulence of the homes in the community. Interestingly, despite the variety of styles – Mediterranean, Tudor, ranch, contemporary – no two homes in St. Andrews are exactly alike. Unlike many communities that are built by developers in one or two styles, the homes in St. Andrews were built to the specifications of the original owners.

The two highlights of the St. Andrews Country Club are, of course, its two magnificent courses. The Palmer Course, designed in 2003 by the Arnold Palmer Design Company, was a renovation of the former East Course at St. Andrews.

Instead of simply rejuvenating a relatively lackluster course, the Palmer Company added exceptional flora and soaring, native palms, sparkling fairways, and enough water to add not only color and atmosphere, but a degree of difficulty beyond that of most courses. Despite its challenging nature, the course is set up such that there are tees to fit every level of skill. The result was that the is one  of the few Signature Courses to be found in the world today.

But before there was the Palmer Course, there was the Olde Course, which is now newer, thanks to a recent re-grassing. However, in 1995, it was merely a gleam in the eye of the St. Andrews club, when it asked Gene Bates, a well known designer, to create a not just a championship course, but one that would help put St. Andrews on the map.

The result  was a deceptively beautiful challenge, which comprises over 7,000 yards of rolling greens, manicured fairways, sparkling water areas that seem to lure seemingly perfect shots off the green, and thousands of lush Florida plants and trees that provide an atmosphere of relaxation and luxury. Because the course offers varied tee areas and many open approaches, it is suitable for weekend golfers, as well as those with professional aspirations.

Best of all, St. Andrews is structured so that residents have little, if any waiting time for tees.  Naturally, there is always a full calendar of golf events for players of all skill levels, ranging from clinics to classes to tournaments.

In addition to the two 18-hole golf courses, St. Andrews offers a putting green and a driving range, along with 15 Har-Tru tennis courts, all of them lit for night play. There is also a 125,000 square foot clubhouse, a state of the art fitness center and spa, and social events to suit every resident, all year long. Naturally, the Clubhouse at St. Andrews is also knows for its culinary pleasures, and its elegant dining rooms and cafes overlook the greens and fairways.

For those who seek the ultimate country club lifestyle, but who also desire a convivial atmosphere where friends and family are always welcome, the St. Andrews golf and country club is the perfect neighborhood.
