The Palm Beach Polo and Country Club is located in Wellington, Florida. With the slogan “Where the world comes to play,” the Club is dedicated to providing exciting opportunities to sports and country club lovers.
The community is located on 2,200 pristine acres covered with a variety of sports and entertainment facilities, and luxury homes for the community members. Villas, patio homes, town-homes, and custom estate homes are designed in Renaissance and Mediterranean traditions by world-famous architects.
Palm Beach Polo has two championship golf courses that attract golfers from all around the world.
The Cypress Course is an 18-hole course designed by Pete Dye and his son P.B. Pete was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2009 and P.B. has been residing at Palm Beach Polo for several years. Some 50,000 cubic yards of earth were brought to create a unique and challenging landscape. The sand, finger bunkers, juicy greens and water spots were organized strategically to make the course both difficult and fun to play.
The course was opened in 1989 and was initially intended to be the host of the Chrysler Team Championship PGA Tour Event. The back nine holes were tailored for television viewers, while the last four holes feature stadium greens. The 17th hole is a real challenge. It is a straight, long par 5 with water coverage along the entire left side of the fairway, while the right side of the fairway is lined with bunkers. This makes for a green guarded by sand and water, requiring the golfer to be on his best game. In addition to these challenges, there is a moderate easterly wind. Not surprisingly, this is the hole that holds Pete’s signature.
The Dunes Course is also a championship course with 18 holes. It was designed in 1984 by golf course architect Ron Garl and 1976 U.S. Open Champion Jerry Pate. For those years the Dunes was a real surprise to golfers because of its uniqueness and innovative design. The links-style design, elevated greens, and woodland areas are second to none and attract those looking for exciting golf. The six sets of tees, strategically-placed bunkers, and natural mounding provide challenge and fun for long and short games. The 8th hole is the one carrying the signature at the Dunes. It is a par 3 with an elevated tee, and bunker-guarded greens on the left and front sides, with water surrounded greens on the right side.
The golf pro shop covers 3,000 square feet and carries top equipment and attire. The golf calendar is always filled with entertaining and competitive events. The club also offers reciprocal games, enabling the members to enjoy other luxury club amenities, such as The Tesoro Club in Port St. Lucie and Martin Downs Country Club in Palm City, without paying for additional country club memberships.
Community residents can purchase any of the available golf memberships to enjoy Palm Beach Polo’s golfing facilities. Green’s fees are included for those who purchase a golf membership, but golf cart, trail, locker and bag room storage fees are not included. Reasonably-priced family membership options are also available.
Palm Beach Polo has ten superb tennis courts offering a truly professional experience to tennis lovers. All the courts are lighted for evening play. Nine out of the ten are Har-Tru and one is a grass court, which is a rarity in Florida. The grass court and one of Har-Tru courts, called ‘the Amphitheater,’ are available for tournament play. Both have comfortable facilities for large crowds and provide excellent acoustics. Top tennis USPTA professionals organize regular clinics for individuals and groups.
