The Fountains golf and country club, in Lake Worth, Florida, is a private golf  and country club community owned by its members and aimed at making their lives luxurious. The Fountains  has a rich history and has been celebrated for many years by golf lovers.

In 1968 a group of men joined together to create “The Golf and Racquet Club of Palm Beach.” They purchased some 600 acres of tomato farms that ran along Jog Road stretching from Lake Worth Road to Lantana Road.

In 1972 the club opened the 9-hole North. It was jointly designed by Bruce Devlin and Von Hagge. A clubhouse was also built that year. At the time, the members of the club lived on the beachfront in Palm Beach and only came to club to play golf. Soon after, residential homes were built next to the course and the club became a residential community. It experienced a residential boom when the club’s corporation merged with developer, Rabino Ladd.

As the Fountains Country Club community enlarged, it started to build more apartments and recreational facilities. A team of club members took a $375,000, 4 year lease and spent it on building a new 18-hole private course – South Course. Six new residential modules and a hotel facility were developed between 1972 and 1974.

When Rabino Ladd experienced financial difficulties, 440 members of Fountains Country Club comtributed $10,000 each toward purchasing the property. These members became the barons of the club land. By that time the community was already covering some 865 acres and Goldlist/Trizec was actively building semi-detached residences.

At this same time the club built a 3,000 square feet dining area. All the locker rooms were remodeled and refurbished, new men’s card rooms were opened, a pro shop was opened, a grille room joined the bar and the entire building got a new air conditioning system.

More and more members were enjoying the club, which underwent another major renovation in 1994 and 1995. The clubhouse got a new, larger kitchen, the dining room was fully renovated, and the roof of the building was replaced. In 1998 and 1999 the 27 holes of the golf course got a new irrigation system and the clubhouse rest rooms were renovated. A brand new fitness center was built at the end of 1999. In 2003 club owners approved a a 4,000 square foot Tennis Complex and a 6,000 square foot fitness center. Later on, the club cooperated with Rabino-Ladd to built more residential homes and two more 9-hole golf courses – East and West.

Homes in the Fountains range in size from 2,050 to 2,900 square feet and most come with hurricane shutters, swimming pool, screened-porch, vaulted ceilings, roman tub, pantry, foyer, walk-in closets, carpeting, ceramic tile and wood floors, central vacuum, refrigerator, microwave, disposal, washer, dryer, and dishwasher.
