Things to do in Delray Beach. The Delray Beach Open

Looking for things to do in Delray Beach? The Delray Beach Open is one of the town’s most notable events.

And it just so happens that the 18th annual Delray Beach Open opens this coming Friday, February 12th.  This very popular event takes place over a 10 day period and consists of an ATP Champions Tour Event that features tennis legends, followed by the ATP World Tour Event that features current top ranked ATP players.

The Champions Tour starts this Friday, February 12th and goes through Valentine’s Day, Sunday, February 14th. (So not only will love be in the air, it may also be on your scorecard).

This event is followed by the ATP World Tour Event that starts Monday, February 15th  and continues through Sunday February 21st.

The ATP Champions Tour event features a unique format with a team of three Americans against an international group. All nine matches are pre-scheduled over the three-day event. The winner of each match receives one point for their team, and the team that wins the best of the nine matches is the event champion. The greatest number of individual wins determines the individual champion and ATP Champions Tour points are awarded based on individual records.

The ATP World Tour is one of only 10 ATP events in the U.S. and will consist of single elimination rounds for both singles and doubles events. The Delray Beach Tennis Stadium & Tennis Center has hosted an ATP World Tour event for 18 years, with past champions and noteworthy pros including Mardy Fish, James Blake, Milos Raonic, Ivo Karlovic, Kevin Anderson, Bernard Tomic and the Bryan Brothers, to name a few.

Additionally, there will be 20 parties on-site and concerts on the tournament’s Main Stage, making it one of the most vibrant and culturally rich events in tennis. The “VolleyGirls,”  a team of spokeswomen for the tournament, will be present to spread cheer to all visitors. By the way, for anyone not familiar with the stadium is is also a noted concert venue in our area.
